Working

Jobs to Do in the Garden this Month

Winter is upon us, but there are still things to be doing...

  • Keep a cut or rooted Christmas tree well watered - it will last much longer

  • Don't overwater Poinsettias - they should only be damp and not wet, and keep them in good light out of draughts

  • It's not too late to plant any remaining spring-flowering bulbs

  • Continue to rake up fallen leaves from the lawn and around the base of plants - keep in a separate heap for leafmould

  • Tidy borders clearing old herbaceous stems and dead foliage and lightly forking over the soil

  • Remember to use a greenhouse heater or use fleece to protect overwintering tender plants
