Worplesdon Station

For several years now, Worplesdon Garden Club has provided summer flowers and spring bulbs at Worplesdon Station to help brighten the travel of everyone who uses the station or takes the time to look up from their phones as they pass through. Last autumn we (re)planted the mixed narcissi and daffodils together with some winter-flowering pansies, and we have recently added a few more annual, biennials, and perennials into the soil beds. Here are some of the photographs that were shown at the Joyous June Zoom meeting.

Thank you to Drusilla and everyone who contributed plants and helped do the socially distanced clearing and planting.

Here are the tubs in February with the daffodils and narcissi about to burst and the pansies already giving a good show

Four months later and the pansies are still going strong and putting on a fantastic display - such good value plants for adding a bit of cheer

The long bed on Platform 1 was cleared of the invading ivy and an assortment of herbs planted - bronze fennel, mint, oregano, rosemary, and a few salvias. They may look a bit small and insignificant now, but from little plants, big plants grow!

There was also a chance to supplement the end of that bed adjacent to the St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) with some more annual and perennial flowering plants and to put a mix of more shade-loving plants into the car park bed behind the shed

...and to add a few plants to the tubs on the railings

Here's hoping they all thrive
