Jobs to Do in the Garden this Month
In these exceptional times, keep safe and keep gardening
Frostly weather is coming so continue to get the garden ready and protect any tender perennials by moving or mulching
Gather fallen leaves and make leaf mould - pack the leaves into a thick black bin bag with a few holes in it, or into a dedicated compost bin, and leave for a year
Plant out any last remaining winter bedding and spring bulbs
Tidy perennial grasses and bamboos and continue to clear the top stems of faded perennials where appropriate
Lightly prune roses to reduce root damage by wind-rock
In the vegetable garden, finish planting winter garlic and continue to harvest brassicas, carrots, leeks, chard and the last of any beetroot
As always, make sure you take some time to enjoy your garden and the beautiful countryside around you.
