Visits to Members Gardens

MEMBERS GARDENS DAY – SUNDAY 20th AUGUST 2017

We are starting this year in the car park of Worplesdon Station – meeting up at 2pm.  To make parking at the various gardens easier please car share as much as possible.  Cars can be parked at the station and collected at the end of the day because our last garden is in Burdenshott Hill where there is a footpath leading back to the station car park.  The aim is to spend about 30 minutes in each garden and allowing for travelling time this should get us to our tea and cake stop around 4/4:30pm.

From here we will be going on to the garden of Anne Goddard at 135 Woking Road, GU1 1QX. Leaving the station car park (around 2:15), turn right and at the T junction with the main Woking to Guildford road turn right (A320).  Stay on this road going straight across at the 1st and 2nd roundabouts, then take the first left and sharp left again, 135 is on the right on the corner of Whitemore Road.

We now move on to the garden of Lesley Woodham, Grantchester, Salt Box Road, GU3 3LH.   Returning to the main A320 turn right, go back over the roundabout and at the second roundabout take the first exit into Salt Box Road, go thought the traffic lights and Lesley’s garden is the last but one drive about 100 yards before the roundabout – there is parking for a few cars on the drive and there is a small parking bay on Salt Box Road, if these are full then there is additional parking at Tim & Keith’s go to the roundabout, turn left and it’s the first drive on the left.

Now on to the garden of Penny Silvester at 59 Brocks Drive, Fairlands, GU3 3NQ.  Leaving Lesley’s go left and at the roundabout turn right onto Worplesdon Road, take the first exit at the next roundabout into Holly Lane.  At the next roundabout (by Rokers Farm Shop) turn left onto the Aldershot Road and then take the first on the right into the Fairlands Estate.   At the roundabout take the second exit follow this road turning sharp left by the Community Centre into Brocks Drive and No.59 is on the far corner of the first turning on the right (Louis Fields).  Parking is tight so best to park along Louis Field.

Now on for tea and cakes at the garden of Brian Sheppard, Ridgmont, Burdenshott Hill, GU3 3RL.  Retrace your way back to the Aldershot Road (where you can only turn left).  At the roundabout take the second exit into Holly Lane, then at the next roundabout take the first exit on to the A322 and then just after Worplesdon Place Hotel turn right, sign posted to Worplesdon Station.  Stay on this road and at the slightly staggered crossroad (with care as visibility is not good) go straight over into Burdenshott Hill.  Ridgmont is quite a long way down on the right.  If you have left your car in the station then at the end of the afternoon you can take the public footpath back to the car park.
